As a Project Lead, Zain Baloch led the planning and execution of TFT at Carnelian. TFT is Carnelian’s flagship program intended to provide youth a platform to address the need for a tolerant and peaceful society. By creating awareness and working on a grassroots level, it aims to embed the narrative of tolerance and build a socially cohesive and inclusive society.
The TFT movement began in February 2016 with the aim to set up teams, consisting of university students, across at least 30 cities of Pakistan. The core objective of these teams was to build muscle of tolerance and peacebuilding in their respective areas through:
- Conducting workshops, on tolerance, in schools, universities and madrassas
- Organizing events and activities (sports, seminars, workshops, street theatre), in schools, universities and communities with a focus on integrating the theme of tolerance and social cohesion.
As part of the movement, 450 students across 5 provinces work to promote the message of peacebuilding and social cohesion in their communities, schools, universities, and organizations. The project has been successful in achieving its objectives as planned. Its team has done 660 awareness sessions across the country with above 35-000-40,000 population engaged in about 150 institutions (Schools, colleges, madrassas and universities).
Following a peer-to-peer learning model the beneficiaries of TFT are required to implement their own projects also known as social action plans and community engagement initiatives within their institutes or communities which increases the outreach of our work immensely.
